LISBON FASHION WEEK

EVER.NOW. S/S 2014 EDITION

A bit behind schedule but we finally have Day 3 of Lisbon Fashion Week up.

It was the last day of Fashion Week and there was a mix of excitement and sadness. As much fun as we do have, the Press team has virtually no time to stop and process all that we see. Somehow we managed to do it.

The Schedule for the day was:

02:30pm SAYMYNAME | LAB

03:30pm Luís Carvalho | LAB

04:30pm Pedro Pedro

05:30pm Marques’Almeida

06:30pm Ricardo Preto

07:30pm Aleksandar Protic

08:30pm White Tent

09:30pm Nuno Baltazar

The clock was ticking to keep the shows on time, and interviews happening. We had the pleasure of talking to Luís Carvalho, Pedro Pedro, Ricardo Preto and White Tent – we went back stage and took a closer look of his lovely clothes.

Now let us give you a short summary on all other designers and collections we did not interview.

SAYMYNAME the FW13 collection had made quite an impression and I wanted most of the outfits. This collection, in a darker pallet in spite of the shiny fabrics chosen, fell short to the expectation created last season. The dresses were either too short or too boxy and not flattering or appealing to the eye. Nevertheless, and as usual, we did witness a master of confection once again.

Marques’Almeida are known as the kings of denim, the key fabric of their collections. In blue, black and white, denim is manipulated into different shapes and styles. Because the Spring/Summer season does ask for some splash of color, details in silk chiffon as well as some leather and fur items were added for diversity. Stuck to a specific concept, Marques’Almeida are not everyone’s cup of tea and definetely an acquired taste.

Aleksandar Protic had me at the first model last season. This one was no exception! This is a designer who carefully thinks about the female body and, above all, how to make garments that bring out the best in it. Using cotton linen, silk chiffon and organza, and combining it with leather sandals, Aleksandar Protic brought to us a darker pallet for a different type of Spring/Summer woman. At the end of his show it was clear he had surprised us all.

We are setting up a private interview with Aleksandar for the upcoming week  filled with photos and more on the journey that took him to this beautiful collection.
