first birthday

For Mother’s Day tomorrow I wanted to share a little something personal to my heart. My son Mason and his birthday party.
If you have been reading my blog you know that I have a son who just turned one! My first and only child so when it came to planning his first birthday I wanted it to be special! And I must admit I was a bit nervous since I never hosted a children’s party before. Was I choosing the right favors, the right candy, the right decorations, the right pictures for the slide show, the right place to host the party? All the details constantly running through my head and if you have children I am sure you can relate.
So we finally chose to have his first birthday party at Blue Water Grill in the Vault Room here in NYC (owned by amazing chef Bobby Flay) .  The Vault Room was an actual Vault when the building was a bank. And what’s cool is they kept the door attached and I must say besides the fact that it’s one of the best restaurants in NYC, it’s owner is known to be one of the best chef’s, but I loved that unique detail so it was a go for us!
If you have been reading my blog you also know I have never put up a picture of my son and I will explain why. My husband worries about children pictures on the Internet because unfortunately there are cruel people out there so I have decided to respect and support his wishes. But I still wanted to share a little bit of the event with you but you will not see the star of the show but more like details of the party oh and you won’t see the rest of the kids either, their parents have the same belief. Well I still hope you enjoy a little sneak peak.
Oh and afterwards we walked a couple of blocks (all 40) of us:) to my brothers Jerald old fire house where his first day was 9/11 and that made him one of the first responders.  All the kids were so excited to jump onto the fire truck, take pictures, which by the way my photographer Sunlee Creations  also tagged along and did an amazing job.
It’s always great spending time with family and our close and dear friends!

Mason had his “own” cake. It was a giant colossal cupcake from Crumbs. This is what it looked like after we sang happy birthday lol.

Candid pic of my husband and my mom Denise while pushing Mason on our way to the firehouse.

Have you experienced nervousness while planning an event?

That’s The Buzz!

i strongly agree with you and your husband for not uploading images of your son on your blog. maybe on your Facebook account where you can control your privacy settings but certainly not on a free space online
