SAYING GOODBYE TO 2011 FASHION MOMENTS

8 Flares 8 Flares ×

As we say goodbye to 2011 let’s look back to some of the biggest moments in fashion. Although there are many that are gossip worthy I have chosen not to list them here. I enjoy sticking to the more positive I’ll leave the rest for the gossip columns.

In no particular order let’s begin with one of the biggest televised weddings in history, no not the Kim Kardashian wedding but Kate Middleton wedding to Prince William. Everyone was talking about her beautiful dress designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander Mcqueen. One day later Sarah was honored with an award by the Metropolitan museum of Art’s Costume Institute gala. After the death of legendary designer of Alexander Mcqueen in 2010 some questioned whether or not anyone can fill his shoes and be a designer genius like he was. Sarah Burton has definitely proven her stake in the fashion industry so far.

Christian Louboutin Vs. YSL- Red sole

When you see a red sole you usually identify it as Christian Louboutin. Well Christian Louboutin filed a lawsuit against YSL’s Cruise collection where a few of the shoes were designed with red soles for trademark infringement on his signature red soles; however, the courts disagreed claiming “the color red”could not be granted trademark protection.

Vogue Magazine makes history!!!

Vogue has made its archives from 1892 and over roughly 2800 issues available via the web. The on-line subscription targets “professional” subscribers, but drum roll please……… the cost well ONLY $1575 annually (umm cough, cough:)

The Alexander Mcqueen show at the MET.

In 2010 the fashion world was hit hard by the death of Alexander Mcqueen. Designer icon!!! This year his clothing was displayed at the MET where not only fashion insiders came to get a glimpse of history but 800,000 people visited making it the most attended show at the MET.

So Fashion lovers will you make history in 2012? Let’s do it!!!
